There have been a handful of chessboards devised in origami; part of their appeal lies in their approach to the subject and not just the outward appearance. This one is one of the few with seamless squares. Conversations with another chessboard tackler, John Montroll (who also happens to play the game as well) helped inspire this design.
Four Arrows Puzzle - Puzzle master Edi Nagata created the Arrow Case puzzle, upon which this model is based. Five squares are needed, four of which are folded into identically shaped arrows. The object is to try to fit the pieces into the remaining square without any overlapping. Thanks to Mr. Nagata for allowing the instructions to be available on this site.
